Owning and riding horses turned into showing. My sister and I spent years traveling tens of thousands miles from Minnesota to Arizona to Ohio and all states in between showing Quarter Horses. The miles traveled, awards won, lessons learned, and defeats have molded me into who I am today. But all that competing also kept me in pretty good shape (hello strong legs & tight core). Once I hung up my spurs (I was around 35) I almost instantly noticed that my lack of physical activity was very quickly catching up with me and I desperately NEEDED to take care of it!

All this diet jumping basically had my body reacting like a squirrel on a busy highway. My thyroids didn’t know what the heck was going on. By restricting my calories, my body went into starvation mode and was hoarding onto whatever it could, because quite frankly it didn’t know when its next meal would be. While I enjoyed the beachbody programs, it felt too rigid, and god help me if I need to drink another shake. Don’t even get me started on the skinny teas – there was never a bathroom close enough at 4:00 in the morning. I felt like an absolute failure – always TRYING something, but never following through long enough to get significant results from ANY of them.
fun fact: this is me and my family in the Erhard 4th of July parade. I was born in April of 1979, and this was taken July 1980. I dropped my bottle and I wasn't able to hold onto the saddle horn by myself, so my mom had to get off her horse to pick up my bottle and hand to my dad - my sister was riding with my mom - she WAS able to hold onto the saddle horn. I believe this photo was in the paper that year as well.
Then in late January 2019 my Instagram friend Jen posted a B+A pic of the program that she started – her results were incredible - (mind you, she was always a cute little peanut of a gal). So, of course, I immediately messaged her “give me the details, girl!” She sent me the link to check out the FASTer Way to Fat Loss page. I scrolled through and read the highlights – thought, well this is interesting and definitely a different approach compared to other programs – WOW $199, um, NO THANKS & immediately closed the browser.
So, while on downtime at work, I started googling “Faster Way to Fat Loss” and read what other bloggers had to say about their experiences (not that I didn’t trust Jen, but I wanted to hear other people’s stories as well). Nearly ALL were very happy and satisfied with the results and were sold on the program and its effectiveness. Now, I know ALL programs can fail (it really comes down to the effort put in by the users – been there, done that before myself).
For those of you who haven’t heard of the FASTer Way to Fat Loss is a six-week program (lifestyle change) created by Amanda Tress. The FWTFL is a revolutionary lifestyle change that incorporates Carb Cycling, Intermittent Fasting and Macro Tracking with Easy to Follow Workouts that you can do anywhere. Its philosophy is Progress Over Perfection. Using the FREE App “My Fitness Pal” as a tool to track macros, the program encourages you to eat a variety of foods that you like. She structured the plan to not restrict the food choices, but rather allow you the flexibility to eat what you’re drawn to. The workouts are challenging, but modifiable if needed, and coordinate with the macros you’re eating that day, so you really get the most return on your efforts. Oh, yeah, she also says to THROW the scale away… in fact, if you jump on a thread and complain that you didn’t lose enough weight, she may just kick you out of the group.
As you may know, I am in the beginning stages of starting my own business. ALL of the podcasts/influencers I follow preach on ‘take care of yourself first’ – ‘you can’t serve others if your tank is empty’ YES! You’re right, but where do I start????
Lightbulb moment here! Why don’t I invest in myself, just this ONE MORE TIME. What’s $199 when you’ve already spent probably 15X that in the past???
So, I’m making my health a priority, and in the process learning that this is possibly a passive income avenue that I could jump in on. I absolutely LOVE sharing my story, because I know that SO MANY PEOPLE can resonate with what I’m saying.
